WaveMaker at Locust Projects supports Miami’s visionary artists with grants for innovative, publicly accessible projects.
Since 2015, WaveMaker has awarded $399,000 in funding to 77 of Miami’s most visionary artists, curators, and collectives. Grantees receive up to $6,000 each in three categories: New Work / Projects, Long-Haul Projects, and Research & Development + Implementation. In the spirit of Locust Projects’ artist-centric mission, WaveMakers take risks outside of art institutions and markets, creating innovative work that is accessible to the public via process, presentation, production, or publication.
WaveMaker is made possible by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and is part of its Regional Regranting Program, a national network of 16 regranting partners. Founded in 2015 by the former nonprofit Cannonball, WaveMaker has been administered by Locust Projects, Miami’s longest-running alternative art space, since 2018.
WaveMaker Grants is made possible by lead support from the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and is part of the Warhol Foundation's Regional Regranting Program. Part of a national network of Warhol-initiated regranting programs, WaveMaker Grants is the first in the southeast.
